Blogs for small businesses?

I wonder how many resources are out there for small businesses who want to use blogging as a method of marketing their goods and services. Has anyone documented the success of their blogging efforts? Does it do anything more than drive (hopefully) traffic to their site? I'm curious if anyone has anything to share on this subject.
